Grants Available for Community Safety Projects
Application deadline for the Community Builder Award is April 12
TAMPA, FLA. (March 27, 2019) – Nominations are open now for the 2019 Kevin Beckner Community Builder Award, sponsored by Safe & Sound Hillsborough and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Tampa Bay Citizens Academy Alumni Association.
Four community heroes who have promoted safety in their communities will receive the award, which was named after former Hillsborough County Commissioner and Safe & Sound Hillsborough founder Kevin Beckner. A grant of up to $750 will be given to each winner to fund a crime prevention project of their choice.

Community Builder Award recipients will be announced at the Safe Summit Violence Prevention Conference (SafeSummit’19) on Saturday, May 4 at Middleton High School.
About Safe & Sound Hillsborough:
Safe & Sound Hillsborough, formerly The Hillsborough County Community Violence Prevention Collaborative was created as an initiative to transform the way local policy makers address violence. This initiative shifts policy from a public safety to a public health model and aligns community and professional stakeholders to develop a comprehensive prevention and intervention approach.
