Outreach and Support Services Manager

Safe & Sound Hillsborough is seeking an Outreach and Support Services Manager to work with youth, families, and community partners to reduce and prevent youth gun violence in Hillsborough County.  If you’re passionate about helping at-risk youth in our community, connecting with and developing partnerships and connecting mentors to youth in need, this is an exciting opportunity to help create and sustain a new program!

The Outreach and Support Services Manager (OSSM) will supervise at least 2 case managers working with at risk youth (primarily males) that either are currently involved in the juvenile justice system or at risk of being involved due to gun or weapon related offenses/incidents.  The OSSM will have the primary responsibility of recruitment and training of community mentors as well as coordinating the facilitation of evidence-based curricula designed to change attitudes and behavior of youth.  The OSSM will identify community partners that can assist in programming support and will be responsible for the management and dissemination of support service funds for youth and organizations.

Working alongside our Reporting Center Manager, the OSSM will also assist in identifying support services for families of impacted youth and coordinate parent support group sessions with area providers.   This position works in collaboration with the Reporting Center’s Youth Gun Offender Program as well as its Juvenile Holistic Mentoring Program to provide outreach services for at-risk youth and their families. This position is primarily a direct service position (80%) with the balance of the time (20%) spent performing general administrative tasks and service coordination.

MUST BE ABLE AND WILLING TO WORK A “NON-TRADITIONAL” WORK SCHEDULE, INCLUDING EVENINGS AND WEEKENDS

Essential Functions:

  • Supervision of support staff to include case managers.
  • Responsible for taking the lead on all aspects of the mentoring component, including recruiting, orientation, screening, training, matching, and monitoring volunteers.
  • Working collaboratively with youth to address their full range of needs.
  • Communicate with school personnel, families, referral agencies and other organizations on behalf of the Mentoring program and as representative of the agency.
  • Ensure that program services are carried out, such as activities, follow-up support to matches and life skills workshops.
  • Meets with Executive Director on a weekly basis for supervision to review program metrics, training and professional development and program development.
  • Manage operations of grant programs
  • Oversees the development and implementation of all programs and outreach efforts for youth.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships within the community to promote and strengthen Youth Programming
  • Enthusiastically and energetically advocate for Youth Services
  • Participate in community events including leading discussion tables at various events throughout the county.
  • Provide intervention outreach services around the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County identified hot spots for delinquent activity during hours of highest need
  • Identify and intervene impacted young people and refer to appropriate services for resources.
  • Facilitate youth engagement and self-determination.
  • Facilitating interdepartmental activities to engage youth.
  • Maintain documentation in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner in accordance with agency guidelines and as required by funding sources.
  • Preparing weekly reporting as required
  • Assisting in database management, including entering program data
  • Preparing required activity reports and participating in  program  evaluation  activities  (such  as programmatic and fiscal reports)

  • Coordinate wraparound services effectively with Reporting Center programs and staff.
  • Input data and maintain required information database systems to track client information.
  • Participate in trainings and/or meetings to ensure program outcomes are achieved.
  • Represent Safe & Sound Hillsborough with the utmost professionalism at community events and other public relations opportunities.
  • Work as an active member of departmental team.
  • Participate actively in cross-departmental team projects.
  • Contribute to fostering a safe and secure environment for community members and staff.

Qualifications – Education & Training:

  • College graduate preferred with bachelor’s degree in social work, Counseling, Education, or similar field required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be an acceptable substitute.
  • Knowledge and expertise in working with gang affected youth or other high-risk youth and their families.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and experience with workforce system and social service agencies, especially with low-income and ethnic minority clientele.

Qualifications – Certifications/Credentials:

  • Certification (or ability to certify within 90 days of employment) and ability to maintain certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), 1st Aid and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
  • Certification (or ability to certify within 90 days of employment) in Mental Health First Aid and Trauma Informed Care Principles.

Youth Intensive Case Manager

The Youth Intensive Case Manager provides intensive case management to high-risk youth and young adults. The case managers will utilize culturally specific skills to meet youth where they are at. Case managers will work with youth to facilitate personal and social development, to create healthy and on-going support systems and foster relationships that enable them to gain a voice, influence, and place in their community. VISION OF REPORTING CENTER: To create long-lasting relationships between at-risk male youth and adult male mentors to prepare young men ages 12-18 for positive development.  Through this initiative, we look to reduce recidivism, promote graduation, and teach lifelong lessons in responsibility, accountability and the true purpose of manhood.

 MUST BE ABLE AND WILLING TO WORK A “NON-TRADITIONAL” WORK SCHEDULE, INCLUDING EVENINGS.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Transport youth to and from the program or other required appointments on a daily basis (as required)
  • Represent the youth and agency to external stakeholders with professionalism.
  • Provide line-of-site supervision for all youth in the program during all program hours.
  • Provide Introduction and Orientation to new participants.
  • Develop, coordinate and assist youth engagement of enrichment or career exploration activities focused on helping youth make progress toward individual goals.
  • Develop Individual Achievement Plans with youth.
  • Facilitate social/emotional educational groups based on curriculum and service programming.

  • Knowledge of childhood trauma and prior experience working in settings with youth and families that have been exposed to trauma or experiencing traumatic stress preferred.

Administrative Specialist

Job Summary

The Administrative Specialist performs higher level office support duties and provides specialized program support for Safe & Sound Hillsborough’s violence prevention-based programming. The Administrative Specialists perform a wide range of administrative duties including conducting research, preparing statistical reports and spreadsheets, preparing correspondence, reports and presentations, handling information requests, planning meetings, providing purchasing and payroll support, fulfilling employment administration requirements, making travel arrangements, and maintaining calendars and schedules.

Nature of Work

The Administrative Specialist must perform a wide variety of administrative support duties ranging from general clerical support to complex administrative coordination. This position may assign work to or supervise student interns. This position requires intermediate or advanced level proficiency in the use of standard desktop applications, including the ability to produce documents and presentations of all kinds using word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software tools.

Driver/Youth Transporter - PART TIME CONTRACTOR

Safe & Sound Hillsborough is seeking drivers to transport youth to and from our Reporting Center, which serves youth ages 11-17 involved in the Juvenile Justice System.  This is a part time contractor position (1099).  Contractors will be scheduled for a minimum of 2-hour shifts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pick up and drop off participants at their homes and transport participants to program activities.
  • Prepare, receive, and provide appropriate documentation for the delivery or pick-up of passengers or goods to ensure timely and accurate transportation.
  • Report all vehicle maintenance in a timely fashion.
  • Provide a safe and healthy environment, both physically and mentally, for all participants.
  • Make sure proper procedures are followed for sign-in/out of children daily.
  • Establish a relationship with each child and know his or her present level of understanding; consider the needs of all the children and treat each child with respect and dignity.
  • Remain up to date and follow emergency procedures and organization policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Florida Driver’s license with no infractions over past 3 years (Verified through MVR Check).
  • Proof of full coverage insurance including comprehensive and collision.
